Insurgency

Insurgency was created by New World Interactive and was released on January 22, 2014 on Steam for PC & MAC. Since launch, we have grown to 3 million users with continual content updates into 2017.

As Lead Level Designer & Environment Artist of Insurgency, I was responsible for the design, creation, terrain sculpting, art and asset placement for the majority of environments. Insurgency uses Source SDK / Hammer for development.

Note: Some of the environments in the live build of Insurgency have been altered slightly from original design and art showcased here. Special thanks to friends and colleagues at New World Interactive past and present. Games are a collaboration and I am thankful I am able to be a part of that.

Market - Layout design and environment crafted by Jon Michael 2013. Further work for Market was strongly assisted by Valentin Levillain and Matthias Schmidt for style and environment art. Market is Insurgency's medium-scale design for core game modes. My role for this map was the design of the layout, construction, and original art assets. Valentin established the architecture style the map uses today and helped bring the map to completion. I was tasked with final polish and art before release.

Ministry - Environment art and composition crafted by Jon Michael 2015. I was responsible for assisting in an artistic update of Ministry—creating and composing multiple meshes and materials to bring the map to greater detail. The original layout and design was created by Spencer Rose. Ministry is Insurgency's medium-scale design for competitive game modes. My role for this map was the design of multiple, original art assets, some layout design, and overall final art pass.
